Roof Tear Off and New Roofing Shingle Install in Macomb County, Michigan

Hello, my name’s Martino with Martino Home Improvements. Today, we’re working in Macomb County, Michigan. We’re doing a roof tear off and then new shingle install. And pretty much a roofing process is, the beginning stages of it.

First, we deliver our rubber wheel dumpster. And our dumpsters, they’re all rubber wheeled. And their tire is like a real heavy, maybe, like about, like, a half a Hummer. That’s how heavy it is. So you don’t have to worry about your driveway cracking or anything happens to that.

Second, we put blue tarps down. It’s called Martino’s blue protection. And what that does is protects your house from falling objects and your landscaping. So all the shingles and the nails fall on the blue tarp so they’re not all in your bushes and all your grass.

Third, we start tearing off. And the tear off process is:

  • we tear off all shingles
  • we tear off all the flashing
  • we tear off all the counter flashing
  • we tear off all the step flashing
  • we tear off all the drip edge
  • we tear off all the underlayment
  • we tear off all the ice and water shield, if there is any. A lot of older houses doesn’t have it.

When we install, we install everything to code. And maybe a little above code always, so there’s no problems that you don’t have and we don’t have. But once we tear everything off to the bare deck, we inspect it for any rotted wood. And when we do that we take pictures of everything. So you see what was rotted, and then you see what gets replaced so that you know that you’re getting the value that you entrusted Martino with when doing you’re roofing project.
